The Saint Bernard ski area (which includes Champex-Lac) provides some 100km of wonderful skiing. The runs are generally much less crowded than Verbier and the 4 Vallees. For information on skiing in the village please see page Skiing at Champex. However, in addtion to skiing in Champex there are several other relaxed and family oriented resorts all within an easy drive and providing a lovely day out.
Skiing in the wider Saint Bernard Area
Other near by smaller ski areas include Liddes-Vichères
Also worth a trip, although slightly further a field, you can find skiing at Les Marecotte in the Val de Trient
Champex Lac provides a wonderful base to explore this superb ski region and all the area has to offer in winter.
If it is a limitless amount of challenging runs you seek and enjoy the hustle and bustle of a large resort, then the best way to reach Verbier is by car. There is however no need to drive-up all the way up to the town itself where parking can be difficult and expensive. The quickest and easist way to get up to the resort is via the Le Chable cable car. Parking at Le Chable is free. The drive to Le Chable is around 25 or so minutes from Champex Lac via Sembrancher.
